As a company that is driven by the need to make engines as efficient as possible, the IOW Group sees itself as an essential player in the world of sustainability. In an age that relies heavily on machines, our filtration products are a major component in the future of industrial engineering.
Our products work, but that doesn’t stop us from researching, developing, and trialing new products that’ll enable even greener oil processing. With a focus on making the cost of our products accessible for all businesses, both ROI and reducing emissions are huge advantages of investment.
Centrifugal oil separators help reciprocating diesel engines to run smoother. Found in marine, automotive, transport, agriculture, mining, and defense industries (to name just a few), diesel engines are currently a staple in the day-to-day running of the industrial world.
But their nitrogen oxide emissions, the energy intensive refinement of the diesel fuel itself, and the type of materials and the processes required in the production of diesel engines means the environmental impact of diesel is immense, and one that we want to help reduce.
Centrifugal oil separators play a part in reducing your carbon footprint by helping to ensure your reciprocating diesel engines run as efficiently as possible. On this page, we go into more detail about how a centrifugal oil separator will help you to run your business that much cleaner.

A centrifugal oil separator helps an engine to run more efficiently. An engine that doesn’t run efficiently uses more fuel, requires more lubricating oil, and is susceptible to more wear and tear.
When you break down each of these factors into their individual impacts, you can see why a bypass filter is such an effective piece of technology. We break down each of these factors below.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has warned that temperatures will likely rise by 1.5 degrees in the next two decades, leading to a devastating environmental impact. It states that only ‘rapid and dramatic reductions in greenhouse gases in this decade can prevent such climate breakdown.’
The IOW Group wants to continue its development of innovative technology while continuously sourcing ways to improve our impact on the planet by assessing and evolving all areas of our value chain.
We believe that with global government cooperation and global business collaboration, we can pull together to reduce the human race's current impact on the environment through fossil fuel consumption.
On these dedicated pages, you can read more about how our centrifugal oil separator works and why you should use an oil centrifuge. Alternatively, fill in the contact form below, and one of our team will be in touch!

The less efficient an engine is, the more fuel it needs to achieve the same output. The more fuel we use, the more petroleum needs to be extracted and refined.
In the extraction of petroleum and production of diesel, there are four stages. Each stage produces excessive carbon emissions through:
By investing in a centrifugal oil separator, you help your engine to keep running at its optimum capacity. That’s because centrifugal oil separators help to remove the micro-particles that contribute to the wear and tear of the engine.
Because your engine is running efficiently, it isn’t using any more fuel than it needs to – meaning you are helping to reduce the amount of petroleum extracted and the associated CO2 emissions.
The extraction and production of lubricating oil, too, has a significantly negative impact on the environment. Extracted as crude oil and then refined into engine lubricant, there are many stages within its production that produce CO2 emissions and harmful bi-products.
While engine manufacturers recommend that you change your lubricating oil at regular intervals, a more sustainable approach to using and replacing lubricating oil is possible through efficient filtration technology, regular testing, and oil analysis.
This process allows you to extend the intervals between engine oil changes, and we explain the part our filtration technology has to play in
the extension of oil change intervals
and how that helps to protect the planet in our dedicated news article.
We’ve already mentioned that wear and tear has a significant impact on the amount of fuel an engine consumes, but there’s also another factor to consider. With engine wear and tear comes the need for replacement parts, which also carry a significant carbon footprint – in both production and transportation.
In fact, a centrifugal oil filter extends the life of the engine’s primary filter! By removing the maximum contaminants from the lubrication oil an IOW centrifuge takes some of the workload away from the primary filter. This allows the primary filter to have a much longer lifespan and do it’s job, of removing water and contaminants from the oil, much for effectively.
A centrifugal oil filter is not a disposable filter – it’s only the paper element of the filter that you will need to replace when the centrifuge is full and requires servicing. It is recommended a centrifuge to be changed at every major overhaul (between 5-8years depending on workload). This helps to realize the full potential of not only the environmental benefits of investing in an oil filter, but the benefits on your bottom line, too.
