Centrifugal Oil Filters:

The IOW centrifuge is a  centrifugal filter like no other. Redesigning a product previously not updated since the 1950s, our skilled team of engineers made the IOW centrifuge filter with various features to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency!

The IOW centrifuge filter has been designed to stop the mixing of clean and dirty oil, with contaminated oil entering at the base and clean oil exiting through the top of the unit. This helps to avoid cross-contamination and means harmful particles do not enter back into circulation of the engine.

Bowl disc technology

IOW Group's bypass centrifuge filters utilize unique bowl disc technology. Unlike conventional centrifugal spinners/separators, IOW Group centrifuge filters have a central bowl disc stack that increases the separation efficiency, dramatically reducing the time that contaminants stay in the oil. The bowl discs provide more surface area meaning finer separation and filtration can occur. Bowl disc dramatically speeds up the precipitation of the solids from the liquid.

Remote monitoring

IOW Group bypass centrifuge filters have dirt/sludge monitoring technology, which informs the operator when the separator needs servicing, saving valuable personnel time on, otherwise unnecessary, cleaning. The CentriClean remote monitor is Modbus or Bluetooth compatible and can be easily connected to your existing alarm systems. With the use of remote monitoring units, the user has the benefit of always being able to measure the centrifuges' performance and accordingly schedule services. This feature is not available with any other centrifuge filter and brings centrifugal technology to the 21st century!

Market-leading performance

IOW centrifuge filters allow you to maximize performance, extend maintenance intervals, and reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) for engine systems and auxiliaries. IOW centrifuge filter comes standard with bowl disc technology and external monitoring for greater efficiency. Our centrifuge filters have also been designed to retrofit to existing pipework, so upgrading to this superior technology couldn’t be easier.

Our centrifugal technology is 150% more efficient than any competitors and provides superior protection for engines and auxiliaries from harmful contaminants.

Hyundai 9H21/32 Installation

A customer wanted to improve operational performance at a Power Plant in South America and had some great cost savings as a result.

An IOW MP600 oil cleaning centrifuge was retrofitted to replace old FM600 filtration technology. Due to the identical interfaces changing the filters over was quick and easy. After just 200 hours in operation, the IOW centrifuge filter had drawn out 1,730 grams of contaminants from the lube oil, working out at a dirt removal rate of 8.7g per hour.

As a result of the massive reduction in harmful particulate, the TBN (The Base Number) remained below the 1% limit for a much longer duration. This customer was able to safely double the oil change intervals on the Hyundai 9H21/32 engine from 700 hours now up to 1500 run hours!

Increasing the oil change intervals meant this customer made substantial savings on both purchasing oil and the safe disposal of it. For this Hyundai 9H21/32 engine, a $17,354 USD saving was made after 7,000 run-hours.

When installed on a Hyundai 9H21/32 engine the IOW MP600 centrifuge created a saving of over $17,000 USD

Alco 18-251 Installation

An oil and gas pumping station had thirty-five (35) ALCO engines running 24 hours a day that need large amounts of clean lubrication oil. Due to the age of the ALCO engines, spare parts are not so readily available. They can be very costly to replace, so improving the reliability and efficiency of these engines would also benefit their maintenance budget.

Two (2) IOW MP600 oil cleaning centrifuges and CentriClean SCU0002 remote monitoring units were fitted, and the results were fantastic:

  • Oil change intervals were doubled
  • 65% more sludge was removed from the lube oil than previous filtration technology
  • Maintenance intervals were extended by 30%
  • Primary filter lifespan increased by 300%

The customer was extremely happy with the results describing the IOW centrifuge performance as 'excellent'. Thanks to the superior performance of the IOW oil centrifuge extending the lifespan of the lube oil, it was calculated the IOW centrifuge filter would be paid back within a year due to the savings created.

Prolonging Engine Life in Diesel Engines
April 9, 2025
Diesel engines are the backbone of heavy-duty machinery, powering industries such as construction, mining, marine, and transportation. To keep these engines running efficiently and to extend their lifespan, maintaining clean lubricating oil is essential. Contaminants in the oil can lead to increased wear, reduced efficiency, and costly repairs. The most effective way to ensure optimal oil cleanliness is through advanced filtration methods. In this blog, we explore the critical role of clean lube oil in diesel engines and how proper filtration can enhance performance, reduce maintenance costs, and prolong engine life.

Overview: MAN B&W 6L28/32HP on a RORO Vehicle Carrier A client undertook a trial period with our IOW MP400 Centrifuge , which was installed as a retrofit on a MAN B&W 6L28/32HP engine. The objective was to assess the performance differences and determine whether IOW Group's separation capabilities could enhance engine reliability and performance. Prior to the installation of IOW Group's MP400 , the engine had been in operation for over 67,000 hours, rendering it highly susceptible to wear and degradation. Consequently, it becomes imperative to remove as much harmful particulates as possible to prolong engine life, as well as extend primary filter life to minimize maintenance requirements.
